Handcrafted homeware with a story
Odiljon: Featured Artisan
Odiljon is a master of heddle threading.
This is one of the most important processes in ikat making, as each thread passes through the heddle which separates them for the weft. It takes one to two days to complete an ikat warp ready to set up on the loom for weaver.
He lives in Margilan, in the Ferghana Valley of Uzbekistan, and is part of the Ikat making team working in Said Akhmad Khuja Madrasa.
